"Are you drinking enough water?"
As a nutritionist, this is one of the first questions I ask every new client. And the answer is often:
"I'm not sure... I drink coffee and tea, but I don't think I drink enough water."
Today I'm going to tell you why water (especially with lemon!) is not just a refreshing drink, but a real tool for better health, concentration, skin and even weight loss.
Why hydration is more than a "recommendation"
Water is literally life - every cell in your body relies on it to function properly.
But in our busy everyday lives, we easily forget it, replace it with coffee, energy drinks or juices, and then wonder why:
we're tired even before lunch
our skin is dry and our complexion is gray
we can't focus
we have a hunger that's not hunger
In fact, even mild dehydration (just 1-2%) affects energy, metabolism and mood.
What does lemon add to the equation?
Lemon water is not just an "Instagram drink". It has real benefits, especially when we drink it in the morning:
✅ Stimulates digestion
✅ Supports the liver and detoxification
✅ Freshens breath
✅ Provides vitamin C - important for the immune system and collagen production
Slightly alkalizes the body and reduces inflammation
💡 Advice from a nutritionist: Use freshly squeezed lemon and lukewarm or warm water. Avoid plastic bottles and use glass or metal ones.
How much water should we drink per day?
There is no universal formula, but:
Women need about 2–2.5 liters per day
Men - 2.5–3.5 liters
In active movement, heat or sports - even more
But don't worry about measuring every milliliter. Listen to your body, monitor the color of your urine (it should be light yellow), and include hydration in your routine consciously.
Water, skin, brain, weight loss
💧 Your brain is 75% water. When you are not hydrated – you think slower, your memory weakens, and fatigue hits you early.
💧 Your skin "drinks" from the inside. Expensive creams will not help if your body is dehydrated.
💧 Thirst is often confused with hunger. More water = less uncontrolled eating.
💧 Good hydration supports the kidneys, intestines and metabolism. And yes – it helps burn fat.
3 easy hydrating rituals from my practice:
Start the day with a glass of warm water and lemon – it wakes up the body and stomach
Drink a little every 1-2 hours, even without being thirsty
Add a slice of lemon, lime, cucumber or mint – this way the water is tasty and refreshing
Why is a personal approach important?
Hydration is only one part of the whole picture. In my practice as a nutritionist, I help you not only "drink more water", but to build a sustainable, workable and realistic system, tailored to your lifestyle, goals and health status.
If you feel that it is time to start taking care of yourself on a deeper level - with a focus on real change, energy and healthy balance - I will be happy to help you.
Small habits make a big difference. And lemon water can be your first conscious choice towards better health.
